Janis Mattox

Composer, pianist, filmmaker, co-founder and co-director of Good Sound Foundation (GSF), and artistic director of The Good Sound Band, Janis Mattox began work at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics in 1978 where, over the next few years, she created and produced intermedia work incorporating musical performance, dance, theater and experimental lighting and music technologies. In 1985, with composer Loren Rush, she co-founded GSF, a group of professional musicians, artists and technologists dedicated to revitalizing the experience of live performance. Since that time, her work has centered on just intonation tuning systems, an ensemble of collaborating composer-performers (The Good Sound Band) and advanced digital audio technologies developed by GSF
