These works inhabit the world of post experimental computer music, addressing traditional issues of expression and cultural encapsulation through the organizational and decision technologies inherent in programmable operating systems. Digital recording technology has exacerbated the gap between music owing allegiance to the mathemetical theory of communication (serialism, general MIDI), and music which does not aspire to select a desired message out of a set of possible messages, but to hypernavigate a compressed information world of unlimited messages, meanings and connections.
