The debut CD by composer and sound artist Steve Peters. This is an extremely subtle work made entirely of pure, gently pulsating drones of electro-acoustic feedback emerging out of deep silences. It is intended to be heard at very low volume over long durations, using the "repeat" function on the CD player to create a continuous sonic environment. Originally created as a sound installation for an exhibit with visual artist Claire Giovanniello, the piece has here been re-mixed to function independently in a home listening environment.

Steve Peters' new release, a book/CD combination, is a patient, sensitive
exploration of the role of sound in knowing a place. Centered on recordings made over the course of a year at The Land, an art site in the foothills of New Mexico's Manzano Mountains, the recordings and accompanying texts evoke the sparse simplicity and subtle depth to be found when we turn our attention toward the unremarkable sounds of an average location. Eschewing the temptation to load the CD with "highlights" of his 24 hours of recording, Peters chose instead to share the soundscapes more as they really were--generally quiet, featuring just one or a few sound makers at a time, and within earshot of farms, trains, and planes. - Earth Ear
