Ione's Annual Dream Festival
We are all Dreamers!

"I am interested in fostering a Dream Community. Dreams are our deepest source of creativity and dreams are always truthful about our feelings. Since all humans and most animals dream, sharing dreams and dream creations can help dissolve the cultural and class demarcations that keep us separate from one another. Dream awareness can help us lead more authentic lives." - Ione

Deep Listening Institute is proud to announce Ione's 12th annual Dream Festival! The Dream Festival is a celebration of dreams and dreamers curated by Kingston based author and dream facilitator Ione.

As always, the Dream Festival will take place through the month of October, which the City of Kingston has dubbed "Dream Festival Month" for the past 10 years. This year's festival will feature 15 artists, performers, dancers and musicians. Events include concerts, a kids' dream art workshop, gallery openings, puppet performances, the marathon of dreamers (day long mini presentations by the community), a procession of masks and giant puppets in West Strand Park, and spontaneous dream theater in the streets. Below you'll see a list of some of the upcoming events.

All performances are based and inspired by the dreams of the artists participating. Ione, artistic director of Deep Listening Institute, describes the festival as a community event that includes artwork and performances by world-class artists, everyday dreamers and inspired beings throughout Kingston , the Hudson Valley, Capitol Region, NYC and beyond.

Along with concerts and events, the Dream Festival will have Dream Box Exhibits around the Hudson Valley, Capitol Region and NYC. Dream Boxes are placed at local "Dream Depots" for dreamers to deposit their dreams to share with the community. Dream Depots are participating businesses, galleries, museums, libraries and individuals' homes. On September 18, Deep Listening Institute will host a dream box making potluck party in the Rondout.

The Festival has an international presence via Ione's Dream Sack, a site which constantly receives dreams from participants throughout the world.

New for this year , the Dream Festival will have another virtual presence on Second Life which will feature "Virtual Dreaming, music and exhibits." Second Life is a 3D digital world imagined, created and owned by its residents.

Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event!!

A RUMI NIGHT
with
Steve Gorn, flute, and John de Kadt, percussion
and Peter Rogen, reading

UNESCO has declared 2007 "The Year of Rumi", and he is now the best-selling poet in America.

A "Rumi Night" is an intimate opportunity to hear Rumi's poetry read
aloud by Peter Rogen while accompanied by the spontaneous playing of
two world-respected musicians - banchuri flutist Steve Gorn and
percussionist John de Kadt. In this seemingly casual format, one often
hears the poetry and music as if for the first time - always receiving
waves of impressions of new and deeper levels within Rumi's work.

Ranging from ecstatic love poems to piercing observations of the human
condition, all revealed in incomparable and unforgettable images,
humor, and wit, a Rumi Night is often a deeply moving experience.

Members of the audience are invited to join in and recite one of their
favorite short Rumi (or other mystical Persian) poem. The musicians
may spontaneously accompany some of these as well.
