Zoe B. Zak's music erases the line between praying and playing. She creates a unique musical experience where the ancient and the modern weave a seamless tapestry.
Zoe was commissioned to compose the music and (with Patrick Wadden) to write the script for From Hodu to Cush for the Museum of Jewish Heritage 2004 Purim Festival. She was previously commissioned to compose Conference of the Birds, a musical interpretation of the work of Sufi poet Attar, which premiered at Bird-On-A-Cliff Theater in Woodstock, NY.
As composer, performer, and producer, she has over thirty CDs to her credit, including:
• In The Direction (with Dean Sharp & David Torn)
• Conference of the Birds (with Steve Gorn & Dean Sharp)
• Come, My Friend (with Rabbi Jonathan Kligler)
• Zoe B. Zak (with the Zoe B. Zak Ensemble)
