Anne Bourne
I am an improvising composer. I flow with the two radiant streams of sound in my voice and my cello. My creative work contains in varied array, the integration of words, dance, film, experimental context, and visual media, with sound and song. 'Anne Bourne is an earthy unrestrained musical force who accompanies her cello with otherworldly vocalizing.' CODA
It has meaning for me that each creative expression or event be an offering of sonic activism, in the sense of resolution between tones, peoples, and individual paradoxes through the shared experience of listening. I also am moved by the possibility of dreaming something into existence for no reason, no social justice, no stillness reflecting natural beauty, simply something to sound in the discovery of a beauty not yet felt, not yet heard. I would like to imagine these sonic architectures, these songs, are remedies. I feel the duration of time that I have lived, and it is multifaceted because of the thresholds I have crossed, and the ones I still cross with my voice. I consider my daughter who opens my heart, that there will be an opening for her to walk through that I have discovered, and that there may also be more that she will find her own way to.
I have recently designed a Salon for distinct musical voices from many cultures and times, and the artisans that create their musical instruments. In this room are welcomed the ancient voices and the contemporary musical voices, all of our time.
