Deep Listening Five Year Apprentice Program

"Listening Is Presence"

Pauline Oliveros has established the Deep Listening Apprentice Program in recognition of the need for sustained connection and community to support the study of Deep Listening and to pass on her understanding and practice to others at an advanced level. With emphasis on creative work, the Apprentice Program is designed to integrate material learned in Deep Listening Retreats and the Three Year Certificate program with the professional interests of the Apprentice in the form of creative projects or research; to acquaint the apprentice with the mission, programs, projects and administration of the Deep Listening Institute, Ltd. (DLI) - a non profit arts organization established in 1985 & based in Kingston NY; to engage the apprentice in an appropriate Deep Listening program of the Institute; to encourage the apprentice to create and find funding for a DLI program of his or her own and to qualify the apprentice to lead a Deep Listening Retreat. Completion of the Three Year Certificate program is prerequisite to the Apprentice program. The Three Year Certificate program, with three Retreats and two years of home study, qualifies the certificate holder to lead Deep Listening Workshops with mentoring available from the staff.

The instructors are Pauline Oliveros-composer, Heloise Gold-Tai Chi Master/choreographer and Ione-poet/writer/psychotherapist.

Goals of the Five Year Apprentice Program:
